Jazz Band

Jazz Band is an auditioned instrumental ensemble in which students study and perform standard and contemporary jazz literature in a variety of musical styles. Students must be able to perform and read music on one of the following instruments: saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, string bass/bass guitar, guitar, vibraphone, and drum set. Listening exercises, development of improvisational skills, and arrangement projects are designed to enhance students' understanding of performance practices in the jazz idiom.  Concert performances are a requirement.

Enrollment in Concert Band or Symphonic Band*

*Exceptions must be approved by the District Music Director
